The number of individuals you see with diabetes will continue to increase and your knowledge and skills can help those people learn to live with this disease in a healthy way. Holding the Certified Diabetes Educator® (CDE®) credential shows you have taken the extra steps to 1) verify that you have knowledge people living with diabetes need to effectively manage their diabetes, and 2) maintain that knowledge base through renewal of your credential every 5 years.

Since 1986, nurses, dietitians, physicians, pharmacists and other health professionals have used the CDE® credential to gain recognition from colleagues and people living with diabetes and enhance their credibility. It is a highly respected credential in the healthcare industry.

As a CDE®, you demonstrate that you are knowledgeable and distinguish yourself from other educators.

We are so glad that you are a member of this community of more than 19,800 Certified Diabetes Educators.

Thank you for choosing to become a CDE®. When you have a chance, we hope you will:
